Mother's Day came the weekend before final exam week for BSU, so poor Ken had a lot on his plate and not the chances that he needed to do for me what he wanted for Mother's Day. He's been riding his motorcycle to work again and it turns out that he couldn't figure out how to transport flowers via his backpack. He did get me Lindt chocolates, which are my new favorite chocolate, and made me french toast for lunch, which is my favorite food. Corban made me a necklace in his nursery class at church out of yarn, noodles and pieces of drinking straw. Ken also gave me a great back rub and did the dishes done for me!
Mother's Day is one of the two days each year that LDS missionaries get a phone call home, so knowing that my brother Jay, who is on a mission in Jackson, Mississippi, was going to be calling my parent's (mom and step dad's) house, we went over there for dinner and each got to talk to him on the phone for awhile.

My brother Mason helped deliver a bunch of roses for someone the week before and as a result got a car full of rose petals. His present to me was to line the walkway up to the house with rose petals for me to walk on. I don't think I've ever had a carpet of rose petals thrown at my feet and it was kind of neat.

While we were taking turns talking to Jay we ate and talked and Corban got Grandma Bach to build a "boat" with him. It so happened that while we were there my sister Katie, who lives with her husband and two girls in the Cayman Islands, and my sister Laura, who just moved to Milwaukee for the summer with her husband, both called to wish my mom happy Mother's Day and I got to talk to each of them, too. Ken also called his mom and I called my step mom to wish each of them a happy day. Last Sunday while we were at my dad and step mom's house we gave her a group present from all of us in Boise to celebrate her maternity and my brother Jason just happened to call, so we all got to talk to him, as well. So some of the aching in my heart from family living so far away has been alleviated lately.

Your brother's in my parent's mission! Ask him if he's served in Vicksburg. My folks are Vearl and Holly Beck. Dad's 1st Counselor in the Bishopric. How funny is that?
